Aspect: I Come from the Jungle
Fernando comes from an indigenous village in the foothills of the Peruvian Andes. His grandfather was a famous local shaman, from which he inherited his shapeshifting abilities. In addition to his traditional tribal education, his grandfather taught him how to use his powers, and asked him to go get a modern education in the city so that he could help his tribe in future interactions with city folk (who were increasingly encroaching into their traditional domains). Fernando did so, eventually going off to study biology at the University of Peru. At this time he started having premonitions of the future. One concerned disaster to his home village, but no one would listen to his words about it.
Aspect: Justice delayed is justice denied
In his final year at University, a logging company encroached upon his people’s traditional land, cutting down a valuable area of medicinal plants and clearly planning to do more of the same. His tribe asked him to intervene, and the logging company agreed to negotiate. The company wanted the land and offered to pay a pitifully small sum for the privilege; Fernando tried to tell them his people couldn’t just leave. When a company lawyer threatened to have his tribe declared illegal squatters, Fernando stormed out of the room in a rage.
Returning to his parent’s village, he told them of the company’s offer, and also warned them of his premonition of disaster. The village elders told him firmly that they could not just leave their traditional lands, and that he was too young for his visions to be trustworthy. Troubled, Fernando returned to the city determined to get his own lawyer and fight the logging company in court.
Unfortunately before anything in court could proceed, Fernando learned of a terrible fire in his village. When he got back there all he found was charred bodies and rubble – his vision had come true, and all his people were dead. However when he examined the bodies he saw signs that many had been killed by force, and several had bullet holes. Assuming jaguar form, Fernando tracked down the perpetrators and tore them to pieces. Before the last one died he admitted being paid to kill the villagers by a blond-haired company man from the United States – Washington state, specifically.
Shortly afterwards, Fernando accepted a graduate scholarship to study ecology and systematics at the UW.

Story Title: RETURN OF THE JAGUAR
Guest starring: SAL DELGADO
While taking a class on the local ecology, Fernando’s professor was called to testify in a lawsuit against a local mining company – a company Fernando’s activist group, Green Waves, was also protesting. A few days before the court date, Fernando noticed that his professor suddenly began acting strangely and had trouble remembering things, and sometimes remembered them wrongly. Investigating covertly, he discovered that the professor had come under the influence of a Red Court vampire who was an investor in the mining company. After a harrowing battle, he was able to destroy the vampire and save his professor.
