JACK YOUNGBLOOD along with DETECTIVE ROY MULLENIX, OSAMU NISHIMURA (西村修), MATHEWWOOFRILEY and LIEF WOTENSEN spent all morning gathering ingredients for the Redirection Ritual. As the Falcon was considered “The stuff that dreams are made of” and an item of good fortune they gathered the following items: 30 Sleep study pillow cases, 30 Dream Catchers, 30 Falcon Statues, 30 loaded Dice, 30 lottery tickets, 30 rabbits feet, 30 four leaf clovers, 30 hits LSD, 30 raven feathers (for the trickster aspect associated with RAVEN), and finally Lief made a sacrifice of his blood for the good luck resonance that permeates his entire being.

The idea was to direct the powerful search ritual ABIGAIL WHARTON had started to a multitude of Falcon statues that would be spread throughout the city. The redirection ritual had to be very powerful to account for the fact that the Denarion Demon was fueling her search ritual with the sacrifices of several people which accounted for the beheadings that had plagued Seattle over the past few days. This was primarily a back up plan because they would do everything they could to prevent the possessed Abi from claiming another victim.

With all the items gathered Jack began summoning power for his ritual in the early afternoon in the basement workshop of his father’s house. Lief joined the young Warden in the ritual hoping to help him deal with fallout if he faltered. The rest of the group waited upstairs with BRUNO WALSH who was still at the house looking after Jack’s sister CAROLINE YOUNGBLOOD. Jack had been involved in rituals before but not as a primary for such a difficult one. The Warden’s power was not in question. He was widely considered one of the most powerful wizards of his generation. But he wasn’t exactly known for his great discipline or control of that magic. As he channeled power into the ritual he was nearly overwhelmed by the magnitude of the spell. Only his dedication to his duty as a Warden of the White Council gave him the strength to keep control of the massive amount of power he gathered. And he needed still more if he was to be guaranteed success. It was in the middle of this struggle that the door bell rang. Luckily this noise did not disturb the wizard and he continued to gather power.

Detective Mullinex answered the door to find a frantic CLAIRE REDWOOD standing on the front porch. She told Roy that she HAS to see Jack right now. AUNT B has disappeared and she needs the Warden to find her. Claire knows Jack can do so since he was involved in finding and rescuing her when the Cross Street Kings kidnapped her last year. Roy, perhaps a bit paranoid after dealing with the fae in the past, demanded Claire prove she is who she says she is. Claire immediately pulled out a knife and cut herself and showed the detective that her blood is human. After satisfying him that she is indeed Claire he agreed to go get Jack. He told her she has to wait at the door because Jack warned everyone as he let them into his home that anyone he doesn’t invite in personally will be attacked by his wards. Wards strengthened by his young sister’s terror fueled efforts.

Roy headed downstairs and nearly disrupted Jack’s ritual when he moved to ask the warden for help. Lief, able to leave the ritual without interrupting it, intercepted the officer and dragged him back upstairs as Jack somehow found the discipline to contain the massive power he was summoning. At this point if he lost control of the spell he could wipe out the entire block!

Lief approached Claire and asked her if she had anything of Aunt B’s so he can use it to track her. Knowing magic herself Claire was prepared for this and handed the young scion of Odin her hairbrush.

Sacrificing more of his blood to the tracking spell by carving runes on his arms Lief failed his first attempt to cast the spell and was forced to waste valuable time restarting it. Still light headed from all the blood he had sacrificed he used his spear to help direct him and finally got a hit. Calling Osamu to join him he immediately took off on Sliepnir, his custom built motorcycle. Roy took Claire back to the Radcliffe Clinic to investigate the disappearance with more conventional means.

Claire explained that Aunt B left to get some snacks and coffee and never showed back up. Roy interviewed the barista at the shop and quickly learned that the kindly old lady had never arrived at the coffee house. He then backtracked her path and found a witness that had seen her getting into a white van that matched the description of the one used by Clancy in the previous murders (a van that had been stolen from the police impound as part of Clancy’s escape). Roy called Lief and gave him a description of the vehicle.

After a long chase east and then back, the two of them finally caught up with the van, spotting it parked next to some docks near Tacoma. They immediately pulled over and watched a motorboat pull away in the distance. Lief was overcome with a certainty that it wasn’t his fate to catch the fleeing suspects at this time. While he fruitlessly searched the van Osamu leaped off the motorcycle to run across the water like a strangely graceful lizard from a nature channel special. But despite his best efforts the motorboat was faster and got away.

Meanwhile Jack finished his spell and was immediately overcome with the belief that he was in possession of the real statue. He took that particular falcon and put it into his dad’s old vault and then started spreading the rest of them throughout the city. He was eventually joined by his friends who did the same. Lief gave ERIC LAUFEY one of them. Eric called the son of Odin a clever bastard for stealing the Falcon ahead of time and was quite happy to take it off his hands. He also managed to talk Lief into giving him $200 for a “children’s charity”. It seemed that Jack’s ritual had worked. As someone saw one of the fake statues they somehow believed that it was the real deal. Hopefully it would work on the search spell as well as it did on everyone else.

With the backup plan set up the group then gathered at Magnussen Park to face off against the Denarion Demon and her sword wielding ally. Lief recited an old Norse poem of battle blessing his allies with great courage and power while Roy, belled ammo in hand, first made sure the park was cleared of any bystanders and then scouted out a good hiding place. Riley rigged explosives to drop trees in the area that Jack believed the sacrifice would take place. Jack then placed a veil on them all hiding them from all eyes. Preparations made it wasn’t long until they all heard the sound of an approaching motorboat and they girded themselves for the coming confrontation.
