FROST GIANT

Description:

ASPECTS

HIGH CONCEPT: SPAWN OF THE JOTUNS
MASTER OF FROST
BIG BUT NOT STUPID

SKILLS:

SUPERB +5: Weapons
GREAT +4: Discipline, Endurance, Might
GOOD +3: Athletics, Conviction, Intimidation, Lore
FAIR +2: Alertness, Fists, Presence, Survival
Other physical skills default to Average, others to Mediocre.

POWERS

HULKING SIZE [-2]

  • EASY TO HIT, HARD TO HURT
Attackers get a +1 to hit when target size is a factor. Add 2 boxes to Physical Stress Track.
  • EVERYTHING IS SMALL
Cannot interact with human sized objects. +2 MIGHT to lift or break things. +1 ATHLETICS to cover distance.

SUPERNATURAL STRENGTH [-4]

Skills Affected: Might
Effects:

  • SUPERIOR LIFTING
Whenever lifting or breaking inanimate things, you gain a +6 to your Might score.
  • BLUDGEONING MIGHT
Roll Might at +2 whenever using that skill in conjunction with grappling. This also allows you to inflict a 3-stress hit on an opponent as a supplemental action during a grapple.
  • SUPERLATIVE STRENGTH
Whenever using your Might to modify another skill, it always provides a +2 regardless of the actual comparison of your Might score to the skill in question.
  • LETHAL BLOWS
With attacks that depend on muscular force (Fists, thrown Weapons, etc.), you are at +4 to damage, increasing the stress dealt by four on a successful hit. Be careful; it’s casually easy to kill someone with a simple punch at this level.

SUPERNATURAL TOUGHNESS [-4]

  • The Catch [+2]: Fire
    Skills Affected: Endurance
    Effects:
  • HARDER TO HURT
You naturally have Armor: 2 against all physical stress.
  • HARDER TO KILL
You have four additional boxes of physical stress capacity.

INHUMAN RECOVERY [-2]

Skills Affected: Endurance
Effects:

  • TOTAL RECOVERY
You’re able to recover from physical harm that would leave a normal person permanently damaged. You can recover totally from any consequence (excluding extreme ones) with no other excuse besides time; simply waiting long enough will eventually heal you completely.
  • FAST RECOVERY
Out of combat, you may recover from physical consequences as if they were one level lower in severity. So, you recover from moderate consequences as though they were mild, etc. Consequences reduced below mild are always removed by the beginning of a subsequent scene.
  • SHRUG IT OFF
In combat, once per scene, you may clear away a mild physical consequence as a supplemental action.
  • VIGOROUS
Endurance never restricts other skills due to a lack of rest. You may skip a night of sleep with no ill effects.

UNSEELIE (JOTUNHEIM) MAGIC [-4]

Skills Affected: Discipline, Conviction
Effects:

  • WINTER SPELLCASTING Power 3/Control 4
Able to cast spells of Wildness, Death, Decay, Slumber and Ice, drawing upon the magics of Jotunheim. Due to the nature of this power source, it is less flexible in some areas than mortal spellcasting and is therefore subject to the limitations described in the entry under “Sponsored Magic”.

STRESS:

Mental OOO
Physical OOOOOO (OOOO), Armor:2
Social OOOO

TOTAL REFRESH COST: -14

Notes: Uses an enormous, ice-rimed sword (normally Weapon:3, Weapon:7 due to strength). Its Unseelie Magic is not truly from Winter Faerie, coming from the power of Jotunheim instead, but it is mechanically identical to true Unseelie Magic.

This frost giant is a small one, only about 14’ tall and weighing slightly over a ton. They grow much larger, however; such frost giants will have Mythic Strength and/or Toughness, and possibly greater Recovery. The giants are highly variable in form; some might have Claws or a Breath Weapon. Frost giants with greater magical powers might wield Glamours or Greater Glamours, or full Evocation, Thaumaturgy, and perhaps some Refinement. Jotuns (eldest and strongest of the kind) approach plot-device level; Utgard-Loki, were he to reappear, might well be a match for Uriel or a Faerie Queen.
