DESCRIPTION – Includes the tourist areas in the north as well as Harbor Island run by the port of Seattle.
IDEA: THE WATERFRONT WAS A GATEWAY TO THE WORLD
Tourists see the Seattle Waterfront as a span of parks, piers, ferry and ship terminals, promenades and public spaces, stretching from Pioneer Square on the south to Shilshole Marina on the north. Highlights along the waterfront include Seattle Aquarium, Myrtle Edwards Park, Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park, two cruise ship docks, the Washington State Ferry terminal, docks for Argosy Cruises and the Victoria Clipper, arcades, restaurants, shopping, bike paths, fishing piers, boat launches, and a spectacular view of Puget Sound. It also includes Harbor Island terminals which is one of the largest ports on the west coast.

UPDATE:

Perhaps because it is an artificial landfill, Harbor Island was heavily damaged on Black Monday. Already compromised by the heavy storms and flooding the earthquake caused parts of the island to slip into Puget Sound costing the local and US economy billions. The port’s infrastructure was decimated and it will take years before it is functioning at near the level it was before the disaster.

VIC KOLWALSKI

Harbor Island is one of the largest container ports on the West Coast and is still busy despite a drop in traffic during the economic downturn. Like all ports smuggling has been a problem and a rise in human trafficking has been noted by law enforcement. Lately there have been several disappearances and Vic Kolwalski, lead of the Local 19 of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, suspects foul play. Unfortunately, the local police don’t seem to have a clue to what is going on. Rumors of strange creatures roaming the docks and disappearing back into the ocean have become more and more common and Vic dismisses them as the “ramblings of bunch pot-smoking hippies”.

UPDATE:

Vic Kolwalski was a true hero after the quake hit Harbor Island. It was only because of his efforts that hundreds of union workers were rescued. He organized an immediate response and was able to commandeer a cruise ship and navigate it to the island to save the workers trapped there. He is lobbying for the quick restoration of the Port of Seattle but his hold on the local union has slipped because of the lack of work. Most of his workers have left Seattle to find more lucrative locations. He is doing his best to hold the community together and provide assistance to those who need it.

FRANK PIPERCORRUPT CHIEF OF THE CPB

Dfrpg frank piper
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency — the largest law-enforcement agency in the country with around 58,000 employees — is active at the Port of Seattle. The Chief of the CPB of the Seattle Waterfront is Frank Piper. For years he has facilitated smuggling by a variety of parties who provide him with the proper remunerations. He has a core group of CPB officers who assist him with this. The recent disappearances on Harbor Island have him nervous because he doesn’t want any investigations to reveal his own illegal activities.

Black monday

UPDATE:

There were several reports of strange creatures attacking people right after the quake and Piper heroically led a small team of officers and managed to drive them back into the sea. To many he is a hero. He no longer has to worry about any investigations into his illegal activities. All the evidence was likely destroyed and now rests at the bottom of Puget Sound. But there are some who say that certain criminal figures are quite displeased at losing their products and there is a rumor that a price has been put on the Chief’s head.
